On Friday the 25th of August, Year One students dressed up as their favourite book day character and spent the day making a book with a different classroom teacher. Students enjoyed the writing process and using different art forms to illustrate the book. The Year One students did a text innovation on the following books:

  • Miss Vagg: ‘Piranhas don’t eat Banana’s’
  • Miss Bisnella: ‘The Day the Crayons came Home’
  • Miss Cameron: ‘I Need a Hug’
  • Miss Smart: ‘The Boy on the Page’
  • Miss Skeen: ‘I went walking’
  • Miss Farrar: ‘Imagine’
  • Miss D’costa and Mrs Ma: ‘I Need a Hug’
  • Mr Stewart: ‘Our Island’
  • Miss Beardsly: ‘Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes’
  • Miss Mastroianni: ‘This is not My Hat’
  • Miss Petkovski: ‘Where’s Wally’; and
  • Miss Bennet: ‘Window’.

From Miss Bisinella, ‘The Day the Crayons Came Home’ examples:

“Dear Green Crayon, Please don’t quit I need you to colour crunchy leaves.” – Aarush

“Dear Yellow Crayon, Please don’t quit I need you to colour the bright yellow sun.” – Nael

“Dear Blue Crayon, Please don’t quit I need you to colour in fast blue waterfalls.” – Khush
