2016 Secondary Athletics Carnival

The Alamanda College Years 5-9 House Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday the 12th of April at Werribee Athletics track. Over 400 students across the year groups participated in a range of track and field events throughout the day with the day finishing off with the 4 x 100m relays for each grade. Students and teaches alike had an eventful and fun filled day that enable students to show their talents outside of the classroom.

Congratulations goes to Hollows for taking out the overall champions for the day!

Below are some thoughts about the day from two of the Hollows House Captains:

The Athletics Day was a wonderful and exciting day for everyone. All the Grade Fives, Sixes, Sevens, Eights, and Nines competed for their houses. Everybody had fun and no one was left out. Even though everyone was cooperative and respectful that day, Hollows won the House Athletics Competition and got over a thousand points! To sum up the day, we can all say that it was a happy and enjoyable day. –

The house Athletics Carnival was held on the second day back this term. Sporting events including 100m sprint, 1500m race as well as javelin, discus and long jump just to name a few were held on the day with lots of students joining in. Students supported their house and gained extra points by cheering for their house. Everyone was very competitive and had a good day. I felt proud to be the captain of Hollows, the winning house on the day.
