Welcome back to Food Tech. This year we are continuing to develop skills from previous years and developing some new ones. We have started the year with our Essential Agreement and knife skills. The Year 1s and 2s are using butter knives to understand and practice the correct knife grips – claw grip and bridge grip. The grade 1s cheered when they cut their first strawberry in half. I joined in through the laughter. The Year 3s, 4s and 5s are using proper knives and working on improving the consistency of cutting even pieces. At the end of the lesson students created their own fruit skewers and cleaned up their work area. Some students suggested they could make this for Mother’s Day breakfast, so sorry if you were expecting bacon and eggs.

Finally, a reminder to return your Food Allergy note and to ensure students bring their container and apron to class.
